Know Your Nudes

Indian skin ranges over a broad gradient when it comes to identifying the right nude. Being overly optimistic when it comes to picking shades that complement your skin tone may lead to a fashion catastrophe. The bias towards lighter skin is not just evident in this part of the world, ‘skin colour’ is very often mistaken to mimic beige or ivory, which realistically does not blend with the varying levels of melanin that is present in different types of skin. Well, it’s about time to do away with age-old beliefs and educate ourselves and others about the ways to flaunt our natural contours.

Truth: Nude is not the same for everyone. Realisation: Pick the right colour for your skin tone.

And here is how.

Chocolate
Bipasha Basu wears her warm skin tone while complementing it with a well-done smokey eye. Shades of gold and brown blend well with a chocolate tint. A red lip with an undertone of mahogany works well too.

Bronze
Lisa Haydon dazzles in her sun-kissed base. She uses a blood red lipgloss to add oomph to her profile. For highlights, she uses a pale pink, which adds colour and light to the deep golden undertone she wears.

Honey
Deepika Padukone marks the classic honey tinge. Her make up features a sunset blush that go great with her glow. Her lipstick mimics a matte orange-red which gives added flush to her skin. She is known for her bold eyebrows which is a great trick to give angle and frame to the eyes.

Pearl
Aishwarya’s wheatish skin tone works well with darker lip shades. She plays up her lips while giving her green eyes a simple black liner. This sultry look can be worn well with people sporting the pearl skin tone. To add colour and contour, a dark rose blush or a bronzer can be used.

Ivory
Alia Bhatt pulls off her baby pink lips, which blends beautifully with her light pale skin. The ivory glow gets well defined with a darker blush that gives colour to the apples of the cheeks.

Using the right nudes can help you spike up the authentic glow and play up your highlights and shadows, not to mention, boost your confidence. Pairing up dark skin tones with a bold, tropical statement and lighter tones with bronze contrasts can allow you to experiment with the way it blends on your skin hue.
