The announcements of big film projects always excite the audience. This may be because these films feature a top-league actor, it boasts of a superb cast or may be has a gripping plot. Sequels make it big due to the treatment of the plot, and the entertainment value that they provide. Filmmakers these days are making sequels to their own films. These seem like rebooted versions of the original. For producers and directors, it is about building a brand image of the film. From Baahubali: the Conclusion to 2.0 – let’s take a look at some the most awaited sequels in Kollywood.

Baahubali: The Conclusion

Unarguably the most awaited sequel, Baahubali: The Conclusion is one film, the entire nation is waiting for. When Baahubali: The Beginning released in 2015, it went on to become one of the highest grossing films of the year, and also gained attention in the international film market. Although audience are waiting to see the visually stunning sequences in Indian epic (fiction), there is only one burning question that everyone needs answers to, which is – Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali? Well, you have to wait until 2017 to know the answer.

Another big film that’s creating waves even before its release is the Rajinikanthstarrer 2.0. The film feature Bollywood actor, Akshay Kumar play the role of an antagonist in the film, Rajinikanth is likely to reprise his role as Dr. Vaseegaran. Director Shankar has recently mentioned that this will not be a sequel to Enthiran. Amy Jackson will add the glam factor to this film. Legacy Effects, an American special effects studio, who have worked on films like Avatar and The Jungle Book are working on the special effects for this film. We can’t wait to see the grandeur unfold!

After delivering superhit films like Singam and Singam 2, Suriya and director Hari have teamed up for S3. Anushka Shetty and Shruti Haasan are the female leads in the film. Just like the last two films, this one too will be high on action with many punch dialogues. Durai Singam is sure to thrill us!

Vishwaroopam 2

One of the highest grossing Tamil films, Vishwaroopam that released in 2013, is a spy thriller that dealt with terrorism. The well-researched story gave away some details about RAW agents and terrorists. Kamal Haasans stellar performance was also the highlights of the film. Vishwaroopam ended on an open note, which indicated that the rest of the story will be revealed in the sequel. If reports are to be true, Vishwaroopam 2 is likely to release on Diwali this year.

Sandakozhi 2

Early this year, Vishal took to his social media page to announce that Sandakozhi 2 is shelved, and we were pretty disappointed. Now in a new turn of events, Vishal and the director Lingusamy announced on their social media pages that they are reviving the project and it will go on floors very soon. Set in Madurai, Sandakozhi was an action entertainer that featured popular actors like Rajkiran and Malayalam actor Lal.
