Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha: Film Review – A Winner!

Verdict: And this is how you make a masala flick!

Nani is back and how! Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha is an entertainer from the very first frame. Placed in Rayalaseema, the story of the super-interesting Krishna (Nani) revolves around his love for his childhood sweetheart Mahalakshmi (Mehreen). Growing up in a region divided by factionism, Krishna and Mahalakshmi have to hide their love for each other, as Mahalakshmi is the daughter of a local leader.

With a Rayalaseema accent to spice things up and the dusty-rocky environs of Anantapuram and Kadapa to add flavor, Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema Gaadha is a pure visual treat, with a tapestry very unlike typical Tollywood fare. The story weaves its way between Hyderabad, Bangalore and Rayalaseema and brings into play the politics between many of this region’s powerful families.

In terms of narrative, the story portrays the slow change of the extremely witty but cowardly Krishna and how he transforms himself into a fearless hero, protecting not just the female lead, but her targeted nieces and nephew in the bargain. As Krishna says in the film, this is not just a story, but an epic – the number of characters involved and plot twists, will justify him saying that.

The acting is brilliant. There isn’t a second in which you are bored. Veteran actress Annapurna excels as the grandmother and her Rayalaseema repertoire will leave you in splits. Nani is as brilliant as always, while Mehreen makes a great debut. The three children are brilliant in their roles and the youngest child actor, particularly, deserves special mention. The music is not particularly great, but doesn’t annoy you and the costuming isn’t very great either. The movie rides primarily on Nani and he holds the film together, very well.

Why You Should Watch This Movie:
For Nani. This is as entertaining as Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, if not even better. Watch this one with your family and friends, and rest assured you won’t be disappointed. Also, the film is a total win for Balakrishna fans.
