Here comes another lovestruck movie that does not completely strike the love strings. A story of a single day compressed & shown in 2 hours. Written and directed by Barnali Shukla, the film stars Shefali Shah and Rahul Bose. “Kucch Luv Jaisaa” marks the second film that Bose and Shah have acted in together; they also played a married couple in Aparna Sen’s “15 Park Avenue”.

The movie begins with the humdrum morning scene and Madhu Saxena (Shefali Shah) performing all the household tasks of a typical housewife. Meet Madhu, a well educated wife of a famous rich man (Sumeet Raghavan), mother of two children, Hindi/English/Maths teacher, agony aunt, counselor, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, daughter, apparently a woman with no problems in life. But in all this what she cannot be is her own simple self. Her husband eats, drinks, sleeps work & she feels neglected. But she doesn’t deserve her husband forgetting her birthday, 29th Feb that comes once in 4 years. So she decides not to keep sulking back at home and pity herself for the next four years.
Hence, she moves out of house, spends a lot of money, changes her looks from a typical housewife to a hot lady, tries smoking to act cool, purchases a brand new car and while enjoying her yummy hot brownie in a coffee shop, meets Raghav (Rahul Bose), sharing her unusual birth date. Raghav, criminal escaping cops, in love with a girl named Ria, whom he plans to settle-down with, but Ria ditches him and in fact sets a trap for him. Madhu mistakes him for a detective and Raghav takes this cue. He continues to pretend he is one. There begins the journey!
Well, there are certain sweet scenes; shot beautifully to show the pure, honest “kucch luv jaisaa” between the two characters but the movie fails to pull the audience towards the storyline. One thing that’s to be appreciated without fail is the way Shefali has portrayed the character. Nevertheless, the day spent together changes the mindset of the two. On the leap day of the leap year, Madhu and Raghav end up finding the leaps and highs of each other as well as their lives. Raghav surrenders himself and Madhu’s absence for a day makes her husband realise how important she is in his life.
Verdict: Good to watch if you have nothing else to pass your time.
