A lot of us aim to age gracefully. Going under a knife to look like 20 when we are 50 is definitely not on our agenda. The only agenda is to have flawless skin that makes you look fresh and vibrant all the time. But how do you achieve that? And when do you start taking care of your skin? Well, let’s put it this way – it’s never too late to start taking care of your skin. All you need to do is pick up on the early signs of aging and take steps to do something about it. By the time you turn 25, signs such as visible pores, dark circles, fine lines, wrinkles, and so on become noticeable. You can choose to cover those up with makeup but in the end, this will just be a temporary fix. At the end of the day, when you wipe off all that makeup, you’ll have to face the reality and accept your blemishes. So why run away from them when you can easily prevent it? To help you out with this, we bring you a simple skin care routine that will show you how easy it is to take care of your skin.

Always eliminate the germs before you begin
A lot of us simply begin their face cleansing or body moisturizing ritual without washing their hands thoroughly. It’s time to change that! Our hands, they may look clean but they carry a lot of germs and bacteria. You really don’t want random pimples popping up on your skin because of the germs transferred from your hands. Think about this before you do that.

A three-step routine for day and night
Cleansing, toning, and moisturizing are the three things that will make your face breath. Follow these steps once in the morning and before you go to sleep.

  • Cleanser: Depending upon your skin type, invest in a good cleanser that will help you clean your blocked pores without making your skin too dry.
  • Toners: They mainly act as a filter after the use of a cleanser. They also help tighten your skin and close your pores. But if your cleanser is really effective, you can choose to skip the toning process.
  • Moisturizers: With all the thorough cleansing, the skin needs to be hydrated. Choose a moisturizer that’s right for your skin and massage it gently on your skin. Make sure you use different types of moisturizer for different seasons as the change in the weather can have a direct impact on your skin.
  • Bonus tip: Vitamin C and E serums are also helpful. They give your skin that extra nourishment to make it look radiant. You can use Vitamin C serum during the day as it prevents oxidation by the UV rays and pollution during the day time. Use a Vitamin E serum during the night to help your skin recover throughout the night. This needs to be done before you apply moisturizer on your skin and only a few drops of these serums are required to do the trick.

Sunscreen is never optional!
Never ever skip this stage! All the wonderful pollution and UV rays present in the environment is extremely harmful for your skin. Frequent exposure of your skin (entire body) to such conditions can speed up your aging process. It can also cause cancer. You need at least SPF 30 to save your skin from the sun damage.

Also, applying sunscreen once a day is not enough. While you are at the office or indoors, the invisible UV rays are still present around you. They even get emitted from electronics. The effects of this are slow, but they still can cause a lot of damage to your skin. So keep applying sunscreen after three-four hours to keep your skin hydrated and protected. And when you do apply sunscreen, wait for at least 20 minutes for it to settle down before you head out. While doing this, if at all your skin feels oily at any point of the day, use oil blotters to take away the oiliness.

Scrub all your worries away
Exfoliation is extremely helpful. It allows you to get rid of dead skin cells and gives your body a smooth feel and a radiant glow. After exfoliating, apply a face pack to take the whole experience to the next level. Make sure you don’t go overboard with this. Only do this twice a week to see brilliant results.

It all comes down to diet!
What you eat and drink has a direct impact on your skin. Habits such as smoking and frequently drinking alcohol can accelerate your aging. Consuming oily food, excessive dairy products, and drinking less amount of water can also have adverse effects on your skin. Now is the time to add a good amount of veggies to your meals, and don’t forget to stay hydrated to flush out all the toxins from your body.
