It is a known fact that the best way to lose weight is to eat lesser calories than you can burn. But it also makes a difference where those calories come from. If your daily calorie intake has to be X calories, and you get them from colas, cheeseburgers, and fries, well, you’re doing it wrong. You need to eat healthy, protein-rich food that will keep you satiated, and swap those cold drinks with water, in order to shed some kilos. Unfortunately, too many food manufacturers trick people into believing that their products are ‘healthy’. Are you, too, eating certain foods thinking that they are nutritious and good for you? Read the list below and find out whether they actually are.

Energy barsunhealthy

Think they are the perfect snack? Think again. Most energy bars are full of sugar, corn syrup, and saturated fat. In the long run, all of them will make you put on weight, and you are better off eating a fruit instead of these not-so-nutri(tious)bars.

Diet sodasunhealthy

While diet sodas have less calories than the regular ones, they are filled with artificial sweeteners, which increase the risk of type 2 diabetes. Just like any other soda, diet soda doesn’t provide any nutrition, and drinking them on a regular basis will make you gain weight.

Low-fat yogurtunhealthy

As the name suggests, they do have a lower amount of fat, but to compensate for that, manufacturers add a lot of sugar to them. Yes, that’s why that low-fat yogurt that you swear by still tastes so good. Next time, just stick to regular flavored yogurt, but make sure you don’t have too much of it.

Canned juices

Advertisements claim that canned juices are fresh, healthy, and have no preservatives. Sorry, but this is the exact opposite of the truth. So now, whenever you feel like drinking a juice, just go to the nearest juice centre, and have a glass of a freshly-squeezed one.

Instant soups

They are easy-to-make and come in handy to calm those hunger pangs. However, instant soups barely contain any fresh ingredients. Ordering a bowl of soup from a nearby restaurant is definitely a better option.
