What makes a wedding so special? Is it the bitter-sweet moments or the naach-gaanas? Or is it just the blissful feeling of dreams coming true? Whatever the reason is, if it is an Indian wedding naach-gaana and band bajaa is an innate part of it.
When it comes to Bollywood, weddings are fabulous affairs. We all go gaga over the uber-chic details and the downright breathtaking moments, which creates a crazy awesome love-fest. Including a lot of dance and music of course!
The 2014 wedding season starts with Kangana Ranaut’s shaadi
. Hold your horses, here I am talking about her upcoming movie ‘Queen
‘. Vikas Bahl’s Queen
is scheduled to release on February 28 with Kangana Ranaut
and Rajkumar Rao
as the lead characters. Kangana
is pretty excited about her role in the movie. According to sources she is super dedicated during the shoot of the film and managed to beat Dilli wali sardi
with just one sweater! Now, that’s some real dedication. The movie is about how a 24-year old girl, Rani, grows up emotionally and discovers her own identity. ‘London Thumakda
‘ the first song of the movie is out and is already a hit. It is a peppy fun wedding track. The music is composed by Amit Trivedi
and sung by Labh Januja
, Sonu Kakkad
and Neha Kakkad
. With its electrifying beats of dhol
and rustic vocals, the song gives the perfect feeling of a Shaadi
environment. For the song Kangana
is dressed in a simple salwar kameez
, with just a sweater above it. Here’s a little bit of trivia : while shooting it was so cold that the dancers wore layers of clothes under their shiny costumes to stay warm.
So without delaying more, here is the wedding song of the season.
Nowadays weddings are no longer plain family affairs. It has gone trendy and more lavish. Every little thing from the venue, to the decorations and food, has to be the best. And what’s a wedding without some Bollywood wedding numbers? We may groove to EDM and trance but nothing can beat the desi dhol beats and thumkas. Play any Hindi track in a wedding and without doubt everyone will start dancing – from kids to grown-ups. True-blue Bollywood lovers, aren’t we?
Going with this filmy wedding spirit, here’s a list of five songs that should be on your playlist.
Why? ‘Cause it is Kajol and Shahrukh Khan in their most-loved movie Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge! Isn’t Kajol just pretty? Usually Punjabi brides are dressed in red, maroon or pink, but we totally dig Kajol’s green outfit designed by Manish Malhotra. And SRK definitely was in his best dancing mode!
When it comes to being the perfect bride on screen, Kajol
seems to rule! Saajanji Ghar Aye
from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
is another wedding track which should not be missed.
Why? We all remember her mind-blowing makeover from the basketball-playing tomboy to the graceful Anjali in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. And this is her first song in that avatar and undoubtedly she looked pretty. Also plus one for Salman Khan for his quirky signature moves and winsome smile. How can you not love him?
All of Zubeida’s songs were beautiful and lyrical. The track Mehendi Hai Rachnewali is like a musical journey of a girl’s life to womanhood, and it is definitely a must on your playlist.
Why? Just for Karishma Kapoor. Karishma as the rebellious bride looked dreamy in her golden lehenga and just as pretty as any bride would look. Beautifully sung by Alka Yagnik the song seems to linger on, long after you’ve listened to it.
Just like Sonam Kapoor’s
character in the movie, the song Gal Mithi Mithi Bol
is all peppy and vibrant. And we absolutely loved the Punjabi and South Indian wedding theme.
Why? It is one of those songs which can make you plain happy. With the Punjabi lyrics very well-sung by Tochi Raina, the song is a not-so-fast dance number. Nevertheless we can dance to almost anything in a wedding, so this is not an excuse!
Be it New Year’s Party or Birthday Party, playing Mika’s song is a must! So how can we miss out this Punjab da puttar from our wedding song list? His song Jugni from Tanu Weds Manu is a total hit and definitely shouldn’t be missed.
Why? Come on, it is Mika Singh
! We love his style of music and dance. ‘Jugni
‘ from Tanu weds Manu
is an awesome shaadi
number by him. It perfectly goes with the fun and frolic mood of a wedding. Check out Kangana Ranaut’s
dance moves, do you really need another reason why this song shouldn’t be on your playlist?
So everyone put on your dancing shoes and get ready do some pukka Bollywood-style latkas and jhatkas.
