2 States crackled with wit, romance and lot of charisma. Did you feel your heart flutter for a moment? Ananya and Krish’s love story reminded us of the good ol’ college days. Meeting your beloved over a steaming cup of canteen ki chai, bunking classes, sneaking out of the hostel… so many instances, so many memories.
Bollywood movies surely have played major roles in our college lives. The best romantic films have given Hindi cinema some of its most unforgettable and heart-stopping moments. Who can forget Aamir Khan’s pehla nasha, pehla khumaar? College life has been the perfect backdrop for Bollywood romance movies. Be it Seenu from Main Tera Hero or Sanjay from Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, we just love them. Bollywood thrives on college romances and there is no dearth of those mushy romantic movies.
From mesmerizing to forbidden love… from dreamy to laugh-out-loud, in Bollywood there are a good number of romantic movies that get us right in the old ticker.
Here are few picks:
"Kuch kuch hota hai Rahul, tum nahi samjhoge"
Kuch Kuch Hota Hain taught us that to be in love you have to first be the best of friends. How many of you actually cried while watching Kuch Kuch Hota Hain? Well, I did. It might be a sappy take on love. But come on, how can you not like the funky basketball playing Shahrukh Khan – a classic Rahul. Naam to suna hoga? (Dil Toh Pagal Hai, remember?)
We all love a good romantic movie. To feel the magic of the onscreen love, to see if love will conquer all, and use up a box of tissues in the process. And we all know Bollywood does its best. It has given us lessons on love. All kinds of love- forbidden also. One such movie is Mohabbatein. It is a heart-warming story of love and rebellion with two polar opposite protagonists. If Amitabh Bachchan , as Narayan Shankar, reflected epitome of authority then Shahrukh Khan, as Raj Aryan, is a die-hard romantic to the core. Love the movie for it songs, the lovely characters and dialogues like: "Mohabbat bahut khoobsurat hoti hai… toh kya hua agar woh apne saath thoda sa dard laati hai." Mohabbat at its best.
Perky and funny. Fresh and funky. A love story straight out of the college campus. You just can’t go wrong with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane na. A lovely film about friendship and love. This film grows on you. Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza are the cutest couple ever, don’t you think so? The film got moments that will make you laugh, cry and fall in love all over again. It is like chicken soup for the teenager’s soul. Warm and pure comfort food leaving you feeling happy and content.
Did your heart skip a beat whenever you saw your beautiful English professor or that geeky cute Mathematics professor? Ahh… uh, it sure did. Main Hoon Na is one film that will take you on a happy memory ride. Shahrukh Khan as an undercover college student might look a bit over the top, but one simply cannot ignore the hotness level of Sushmita Sen. Minus the outrageous plot, the considerable chemistry between Shahrukh Khan and the gorgeous chemistry professor 😉 Sushmita Sen becomes too powerful to ignore. Itni choti hokar teacher … amazing. Only Shahrukh Khan can be so flirtatiously charming.
Bollywood has something for everyone. Smash-hit chick flicks. Romcom faves. Forbidden love. Epic tales of lovers washed away by the tide of history (Read: Neel Kamal), the list is never-ending. However, from the awesome 90s till today, college romance tops the list. Recent release like Yaariyaan and Main Tera Hero wooed the public, with its peppy story and fun tracks. Purani Jeans which released this Friday, is a story about Sam and Sid and their crazy friendship. If you love romantic movies, don’t miss this one. Take a drive down the memory lane with stories of love, jealousy, and broken hearts… Who knows, you might fall in love all over again!
