‘Emeralds for Elephants’ Jewelry Launch
Madhuri Dixit looked exquisite in a black and gold floral anarkali suit at the launch of Gemfields’ ‘Emeralds for Elephants’ jewelery at Hotel Taj Palace in South Mumbai on Wednesday, 20 July, 2011. Madhuri has been appointed as the brand ambassador for a fund-raising project for conservation of the Asian elephants and tigers.
At the launch of the ‘Emeralds for Elephants’ project, she said: “Many instances of human-elephant conflict have been reported in the country. This would not have happened if elephants had their own space and humans had not cut forests for farmlands, settlements, industries, roads or railways.”
Expressing her concern for our national animal (tiger), she added: “This national heritage animal in India is now seriously under threat since its habitat – forests – is disappearing at an alarming rate.”
