Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan Praise Visaaranai

Vetrimaaran‘s Visaaranai has already seen a fair bit of hype around it. Produced by Dhanush and starring Attakathi Dinesh, Adukalam Muradoss, the movie has caught the attention of moviebuffs. Based on a real-life incident, Visaaranai is the first Tamil film to bag an award at the Venice Film Festival. This development got even Anurag Kashyap excited who took to his Twitter page to announce the amazing news. Not just him, veteran filmmakers like Mani Ratnam and Priyadarshan, and actor Kamal Haasan  are also raving about this crime-thriller.

The film is based on a book titled ‘ Look Up‘ written by M. Chandra Kumar, an auto rickshaw driver. The film is about an experience that shook his life – the time when his friend and him were arrested by the Guntur district police of Andhra Pradesh, and allegedly tortured them for 13 days, for no reason. The experience led Kumar to write the book. He put forth his opinion how the underprivileged members of the society often get a raw deal.

The scenes in the trailer of the film look hard-hitting and brutal, suggesting the graphic nature of the film. It’s certainly does not look for the faint of heart.
