Manjhi Leaked: Online Leaks That Made Us Angry

Ketan Mehta‘s biopic, Manjhi – The Mountain Man leaked online 10 days before its scheduled release on 21st this month. This news is awful but what’s more shocking is that the preview copy that made its way to the torrent sites, is apparently the CENSOR BOARD COPY! Sadly, this isn’t the first instance of an online leak. It’s happened in Hollywood with movies, trailers and series. And recently we saw the Malayalam blockbuster, Premam, suffer a similar fate. In Hollywood, the piracy problem is being dealt with sternly, as in the case of Sylvester Stallone‘s Expendables 3 where an arrest was made. But Bollywood, along with its regional counterparts, needs to take bolder measures to fight piracy.

While the authorities take care of this issue (and we hope quickly), we give you 5 times online leaks made us angry.
In this upcoming film, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill will be playing Batman and Superman, respectively. The film has created a lot of buzz and it’s slated to release in March next year. The trailer was leaked on the internet just before its official release. While the leaked version wasn’t a good quality video, Warner Bros. did try their best to get the footage off YouTube.

Suicide Squad is set to release in August next year and is based on the anti-hero team from DC Comics with the same name. The movie stars Jared Leto, Will Smith, and former model Cara Delevingne, among other stars. The trailer of this film was also leaked before the official release. The video again was of low-quality.

3. Game of Thrones’ fifth season
Game of Thrones‘ fifth season commenced with a piracy problem, too. The first four episodes of the much-loved series were put online a day before the official broadcast in April this year. While we are sure the fans rejoiced, the makers weren’t at all pleased.
4. Bajrangi Bhaijaan
While Salman Khan‘s Bajrangi Bhaijaan didn’t leak before the release of the film, it was available the very same day on peer-to-peer sharing sites. The film obviously sailed through on an enormous we-love-Sallu-Bhai wave, but we are sure Salman wasn’t too happy about the leak.
5. Kamal Haasan’s Papanasam
Papanasam, the Tamil version of director Jeethu Joseph‘s 2013 Malayalam film Drishyam, also found its way online on the same day as its release. The movie still did well and collected 8 crore rupees in Tamil Nadu alone.
We urge you not to support piracy. Watch the film on the big screen- the way it was meant to be watched! It’s really easy- book your tickets for Manjhi – The Mountain Man now!
