The many shades of Arijit Singh!

His magical voice strikes a chord so deep, you can’t help but listen to his songs on repeat! Isn’t it true?

Most of us became instant fans when Arijit Singh grabbed the limelight with "Tum Hi Ho", the redefining love anthem. But that’s not how his Bollywood journey began. Before giving us the hit Aashiqui 2 single, Arijit crooned to some of the most touching renditions. Let’s take a look at how the Bengali heartthrob won our hearts, one song at a time!

1. Phir Mohabbat  (Murder 2) – 2011

It’s like a magic formula – Songs that feature Emraan Hashmi are guaranteed hits. This one though, was also Arijit’s first song in Bollywood and what a start it was! The song topped almost all the charts for weeks and it still is one of his best playbacks.
Welcome to Bollywood, Arijit!

2. Raabta (Agent Vinod) – 2012
The only plus that we could take from this film was another memorable track by Arijit. The best part is, there are four versions of the same song, and Arijit has sung all with different co-singers! Raabta was critically acclaimed and became the most popular love song of 2012.
Here’s the unplugged version!

Fallen in love, haven’t we?

3. Duaa (Shanghai) – 2012

No other singer would have done justice to this classic Vishal-Shekhar composition. Arijit’s vocals gave  meaning to this rendition, making it one of the most emotionally touching songs of all time. Arijit bagged the "Upcoming Male Playback Singer" award at the Mirchi Music Awards for this one.
He can make a sad song sound beautiful, isn’t it?

4. Phir Le Aya Dil – Reprise (Barfi) – 2012
Rekha Bhardwaj has lent her beautiful voice to this soul-stirring ghazal. But Arijit went a step ahead and sang the reprise version, showcasing his semi-classical vocals. Both, the original as well as the reprise version, received positive responses from the critics.

Whoa! He’s added another feather to his hat!

5. Saawali Si Raat (Barfi) – 2012
It may not be the most well-known song of the album, but Arijit’s smooth rendition of Saawali Si Raat is a gem! It is the sort of song that makes you fall in love with the voice. It’s slow, it’s sensuous and has a whole lot of meaning thanks to Swanand Kirkire‘s lyrics. For once, Pritam deserves credit for the way he let Arijit take over!

And of course, post Tum hi ho, Arijit has stormed to success with his chart-topping numbers. Keep them coming, because we want more!
