Men’s Style: To Beard or Not To Beard

If there’s any trend in men’s fashion that has made a serious impact in the last two years, it is the good ol’ beard! Before we tell you about the many, many styles you can keep one, here’s a little push for the late adopters. One of our colleagues, Dharm (bearded, of course) offers a few reasons why must you proudly sport facial hair:

Well, if the fact that they look great and make you look manly isn’t enough, there’s some science to back it up. They can slow the aging process, since the block most of the UV rays that fall on them, preventing the risk of cancer and avoiding wrinkles. Another way they protect the skin is by keeping it from getting dry, since they retain the natural oils that the skin produces. They can also reduce infections and allergies since they trap dust/particles, preventing them from entering the respiratory system. Still don’t think you should lose the blade?

Gone are the days when beard was considered unkempt and drew disapproving headshakes from the aunties. So, grow a beard and look sassy and sharp!

Stubble: You can go for short, long or go for a medium look like David Beckham.
French fork: Try the vintage look with this one.

Ducktail: Go the Leo-way, it looks smart as hell if you can carry it.
Circle beard: Trying to break-bad? You gotta have this look!

Imperial: Check out Mel Gibson‘s Imperial Beard. Not many can carry this off.
Goatee: One of the most popular beards and rightly so.

Mutton chops: Think Wolverine
Friendly Mutton chops: Think Hugh Jackman post filming for Wolverine.

Van Dyke: Keep it in check with a Van Dyke beard
Anchor: Go for the typical Robert Downey Jr. look.

Verdi: This look is a more manageable type of long beard.
Dutch: The sans mustache look doesn’t suit everyone; think Moin Ali or Hashim Amla.

Bandholz: Everyone from Shahid Kapoor to Leonardo DiCaprio is sporting a version of this beard. This one is a hot trend right now.
Garibaldi: A more toned-down version, this beard has more volume towards the base.

Which style are you trying?
