Verdict: Tabu and Manoj Bajpayee shine in this thriller.
What’s Missing About:
Sushant Dubey (Manoj Bajpayee) heads to Mauritius with his wife, Aparna (Tabu) and daughter, Titli. Though it’s an official trip, his better half insists on tagging along as she is aware of his roving eye. The couple’s happiness is short-lived as their child goes missing in less than four hours of them checking in to the resort. The staff has no clue and now it is left to the police force headed by Ram Buddhu (Annu Kapoor) to find the three-year-old. While solving the case, they stumble upon various leads, most of which are dead ends. There is also a mysterious man who seems like the obvious suspect but in the end, there’s more than what meets the eye.
At no point can you predict how Missing will pan out. You’ll keep imagining certain scenarios, only for them to be ruled out in the very next scene. Tabu and Manoj Bajpayee are noted for their fine performances and casting them together is a strong pairing. The actors complement each other perfectly and it's difficult to pick the standout star of the film. Annu Kapoor, who was last seen in Baa Baaa Black Sheep, plays the quirky officer to the tee. There’s just one song in the film and that’s exactly how it should be in any thriller.
What Could’ve Been Better:
The background music feels a bit jarring in places. Some of the dialogues appear to be silly.
Why You Should Watch This Movie:
A tense narrative backed by powerful performances by its lead actors make Missing worth a watch. It isn't a commercial or an art film but something that is pretty unusual by Bollywood standards. Catch it this weekend – book now.
