There is something so special about the ‘90s. That was the era when Hindi movies meant the world to us. It is true that great movies continue to be made but the Bollywood of the '90s is in a league of its own! Whether it was Sunny Deol questioning the judicial machinery or Suniel Shetty singing Jhanjhariya in the desert serenading Karisma Kapoor, the magic is hard to replicate.
The decade produced some of the most memorable Hindi films and it is rather hard to pick only a handful. Still, here are a few that sum up Bollywood for every 90s kid:
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)
This is the film that made dressing up in weird tracksuits to play basketball such a thing. It also brought back the skirt-suit and pearls. Remember Ms. Braganza? (Aha!)
Most importantly, it taught us such a vital lesson: pyaar dosti hain! You know, the Rahul to your Anjali.
Pyaar Kiya to Darna Kya (1998)
It totally gave us the courage to fight for love. Always remember no matter how tough bade bhaiyya is, you can always win his heart.
Dil To Pagal Hai (1997)
If your name is Rahul (naam toh suna hoga), you will always win the girl. Period.
The movie defined love for our generation, no doubt! It also has a very important lesson for boys: Never harass an old man, he might just end up as your father-in-law! But wait. If someone as stern and strict as Simran's baauji can change his mind, any father can. So, relax!
Hum Aapke Hai Koun..! (1994)
Before Hum Apke Hain Koun, coughing meant a bad throat. After Hum Apke Hain Koun, coughing could mean a hundred different things. *Cough cough*
