What if movies were realistic?

There are so many wonderful things about watching a movie! Out of all these, the escapism they provide is definitely one of the best parts. Watching a good film is like entering a whole new world – A world without any stress, difficulties or hardships. It is, therefore, no surprise that most movies aren’t realistic. After all, who wants to pay to see the same mundane scenarios, right?

Inspite of this, it’s hard not to wonder how different things would be if movies were more realistic.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

Obviously, the entire Harry Potter universe is far beyond the realms of reality. Apart from the obvious fictitious element, it’s hard to believe that an eleven year-old boy would enthusiastically agree to go away with a full-grown (and slightly scary-looking) man who claimed to be a wizard!
Dhoom: 2

Simply put, if Dhoom: 2 was realistic, the whole plot would fall apart. However, there are still a few exceptionally unrealistic moments that deserve a mention. For one, emerging out of a sewer wouldn’t have been nearly as easy or glamorous as Hrithik made it seem. Come to think of it, Sunehri (Aishwarya Rai) and Aryan (Hrithik Roshan) disguising themselves as dwarves wouldn’t have been a fool-proof plan either.
Mean Girls

Though Mean Girls put forth a somewhat realistic portrayal of cattiness and petty drama, some parts still went too far. In the film, Regina George (Rachel McAdams) gets run over by a bus and manages to survive, without any major injuries. Though we’re glad she made it through, the scene isn’t exactly the epitome of realistic.
Queen

A girl who knows no French and very little English goes to France all by herself. What could possibly go wrong? If her close encounter with a burglar was any indication – a lot! In the film, Rani (Kangana Ranaut) also happens to bump into helpful Indians all across the globe. While that could happen, we wouldn’t hold our breath!
Transformers

Explosions aren’t nearly as exciting or glamorous off-screen. When there’s an explosion on-screen, it’s easy for Mikaela (Megan Fox) to walk away unscathed. Unscathed and good-looking, nonetheless. Nine times out of ten, Megan Fox emerges from the explosion without a hair out of place. If Transformers was more realistic, she might not have made it out of the first explosion alive.
Ghajini

Sanjay (Aamir Khan), who suffers from anterograde amnesia, decides to avenge the death of his lover. He bulks up, tattoos important information on himself and sets out on his quest. Though he’s fit enough to take someone on, the ease with which he battles hordes of people is… well, less than realistic. Though he could certainly have put up a fight, there’s no way Sanjay could have won against all the henchmen!
Home Alone

Home Alone follows Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin), who spends a day at home by himself. This also happens to be the day that burglars enter his home. However, Kevin sets up a series of obstacles and gets the crooks arrested. If Home Alone was more realistic, there’s no way Kevin would’ve made it through the day alive. But that wouldn’t have been any fun, would it?
All things considered, movies wouldn’t be half as enjoyable if they were realistic. Now that we know how dull our favorite movies could have been without a few elements here and there, we might just be able to appreciate them a little more! What do you think?
