From comedy to thriller to biographical. Airplanes have been ruling the heads and hearts of Hollywood filmmakers for a long, long time.

Catch Me If You Can
Directed by Steven Spielberg and with a star cast featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Christopher Walken, Martin Sheen, and Nathalie Baye, and an interesting story line, Catch Me If You Can is as good as it’s going to get. 

A true laugh riot! Airplane! is a 1980 parody film by David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker. When a man scared of flying finds himself facing the mammoth task of landing the plane safely, gags, puns and slapstick comedy ensues.  

United 93
The film follows the tragedy of the attacks on 11th September 2001, when the United Airlines Flight 93 was hijacked. This dramatic film was one of the most critically acclaimed movies of 2006 and did a great job of honoring the memories of the victims.  

The Aviator
Directed by Martin Scorsese, The Aviator follows the life of Howard Hughes. The film is based on the non-fiction book Howard Hughes: The Secret Life by Charles Higham. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett and Kate Beckinsale.  

Up in The Air
A comedy-drama film starring George Clooney, Up in The Air gives us a glimpse of the life of a frequent flier and his adventures. 

A 2012 drama film that stars Denzel Washington, Flight is the story of an airline pilot who manages to save his flight from a crash and is declared a hero. But is he actually a hero? 

Non-Stop is another great action film starring Liam Neeson. The air marshal on-board the airplane faces terrorists and an imminent on-air attack but manages to save the plane from grave danger. 

Top Gun
The 1986 drama directed by Tony Scott starred Tom Cruise, Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, Anthony Edwards, and Tom Skerritt. The film won an Oscar and Tom Cruise became ‘Maverick’ ever after. 

Con Air
This action film stars Nicolas Cage, John Cusack, and John Malkovich. The film deals with prisoner transfer and manages to keep you at the edge of your seat throughout. 

Air Force One
Harrison Ford plays the US President on-board the hijacked Air Force One. This political action thriller directed by Wolfgang Petersen is a great watch.
