They’re bad, they’re evil and they always have a plan to mess up when it’s all hunky-dory in Hindi films. What’s a Bollywood movie that doesn’t have our larger-than-life hero fighting it out against the cunning villain? Earlier, a villain in  Hindi films would have certain features that distinguished him from the hero. For example, his looks. Yesteryear actors like Prem Chopra, Amrish Puri, Amjad Khan, etc. were well-known for their villainous avatars. Whether it’s their outfit, hair, or anything messy in their appearance – you’d know that they’re the bad boys. With time, Bollywood has seen a new trend as far as villains are concerned. They may have the same intentions, but they’re not necessarily ugly. Not only do they sound dangerous, but they’re also physically intimidating. Of late, Hindi films have seen some really good-looking bad boys who’ve almost stolen the show instead of the hero. Check it out!

1. Nikitin Dheer
Son of veteran actor Pankaj Dheer, this handsome hunk made his Bollywood debut in Ashutosh Gowariker’s historical film, Jodhaa Akbar. The film was a huge success, and Nikitin’s antagonistic character was widely appreciated. The sturdy actor continued to play negative roles in Ready, Dabangg 2 and the most popular of all, Chennai Express.
2. Freddy Daruwala
It is hard to make a mark if your first notable Hindi film co-stars the dashing Akshay Kumar. The Khiladi often tends to overshadow his co-actors. But the 2014 Akshay-starrer Holiday saw the rise of a supremely good-looking villain in Freddy, a.k.a Farhad Daruwala – a model and aspiring actor. Playing the role of the primary antagonist, Freddy’s killer looks added more charm to his deadly role in the film. Of course, Akki got the better of him at the end. But, Freddy surely made heads turn!
3. Tahir Raj Bhasin
While Rani Mukerji single-handedly stole the show in Mardaani, her opponent was no less. Tahir Raj Bhasin made his big Bollywood debut in this brilliant Yash Raj film that was critically applauded. Bhasin’s negative character of Karan Rastogi earned him much recognition. He was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Filmfare Awards. Bhasin, a model, has trained extensively in body language and behavioral analytics.
4. Vidyut Jamwal
A trained martial artist, Vidyut Jamwal quickly came across as the new-age action hero of Bollywood in his first Hindi film, Force. Starring opposite John Abraham, Vidyut looked every bit of the dangerous antagonist who’d trigger the chills. That year, he won all the awards for Most Promising Debut, 2012. Vidyut later went on to play a positive role in his next film, Commando. But, his expertise in martial arts and stunts/action sequences makes him the perfect choice for a typical villain.
5. Rahul Dev
A major part of Rahul Dev’s film career has featured shades of negative characters, one after the other. Dev’s first Hindi film saw him going one-on-one against Sunny Deol in Champion. Thereafter, he continued to play antagonist in a number of films. Some of his noteworthy movies are Footpath, Awara Paagal Deewana, Supari, Fight Club and many more. Although few films were successful at the box office, Rahul’s transition has only made him better at being villain. He was also seen as the demon Arunasur in the mythological TV series, Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev.
