It is known how when it comes to Bollywood, certain actors rule the roost and manage to stay at the very top for a long time.
In all of this, there have been those who have made some significant appearances in movies but somehow their talents have not received the deserved attention. Not that such actors failed to give their best, but then again, there begins the story of the underrated. The harsh truth of Bollywood is that not everyone manages to establish a strong presence as an actor. The reason could be many – a string of unsuccessful movies, being in the shadow of bigger stars and some such.
Let's take a look at such few actors who deserve lot more attention than what they have received.
Javed started his acting career in Subhash Ghai's film Meri Jung where he played a negative role. In this very movie, he also managed to make a name for himself as a break dancer. Later, in his career, he also judged a dance show called Boogie Woogie.
He was one of the most feared villains of the 90s since he appeared in Sangharsh (1999). He was loved by many for his negative roles he played in movies like Badal (2000) and Kasoor (2001). Ashutosh Rana is hailed by many as one of the finest actors in the industry. However, after a few duds and some questionable choices when it came to movies, he faded out of the mainstream.
Kunal made his first appearance as a child star in Mahesh Bhatt's Zakhm. He later made his debut as an adult in Mohit Suri's film Kalyug (2005). He was seen in a few other movies like 99 (2009) and Traffic Signal (2007), which did not make much of an impact on the box office. He appeared in a few not very memorable films, more recently, Bhaag Johnny and Guddu Ki Gun last year. Before you write him off, do remember the naughty Sunny from Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993).
He almost had the world at his feet after Nagesh Kukonoor's film Iqbal (2005). While many think, Iqbal is the actor's debut effort but he did make some blink-and-miss appearances in Hindi movies before. He later went on to star with Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om (2007) and even there his performance was appreciated. After a successful start in the industry, he somehow could not sustain the momentum even though, his acting skills are far superior than most.
After a successful debut alongside Chandrachur Singh in Tere Mere Sapne (1996), he didn't quite manage to establish himself as an actor. He later made a powerful comeback in Rajkumar Hirani's Munnabhai M.B.B.S. (2003) playing "Circuit", a character that continues to endear audience till date. Another remarkable performance of his was as Jolly in Jolly LLB (2013). While he delivers the odd hits every now and then, he is still considered to be among the most under-utilised actors by his colleagues and fans.
