The phrase ‘and they lived happily ever after’ invokes a lot of joyful feelings in us. We want that phrase to define our lives and we look for the same in different works of literature. With the popularity of movies, our favorite fairy tales were immortalized in this form of entertainment. Hardcore movie enthusiasts might disagree but, jay movie-goers love the idea of a happy ending. There is something beautiful about watching a happy ending when the bow is tied very neatly at the end and everything is in place in spite of the upheaval. Here are 7 good movies which were excellent but, we wish they had a happy ending.

Kai Po Che

Kai Po Che - BookMyShow

The kind of people who say ‘I’ve read the book’ knew how the movie was going to end and it was not going to be a pleasant sight. But movies have been known in the past to sway from the books a little, to give freshness to the material and not appear predictive. We heartily wish the makers of the movie had made use of that creative license.

Ram Leela

Ram Leela - BookMyShow

Based on Shakespeare’s tragedy and made by the king of tragedy movies (read Devdas, Black, etc) we knew there could not be a hope for a happier ending. We love to see that love triumphed over everything. We would have been happier if they have survived the struggle of fighting for their love. Some times it is okay for Romeo and Juliet to be alive and still be together.

Lootera - BookMyShow

Based on a short story, The Last Leaf by O. Henry, this movie has made full use of the term creative license. There is no doubt that the chemistry between the leads was powerful and appealing. The movie would have been perfect if they would have gotten their happily ever after.

Jannat - BookMyShow

We are always told that life although rarely, gives you a second chance. We see the leads struggle, his rise to power, his fall and his turning a new leaf. Him dying as soon as he was trying to use his second chance doesn’t leave us much optimistic about the concept of second chances.

Kal Ho Na Ho

Kal Ho Na Ho - BookMyShow

Naina (Preity Zinta) and Aman (Shah Rukh Khan) were perfect for each other. What’s more? They loved each other. Aman loved her to the extent that he was ready to make her fall in love with someone else and he did it quite successfully. With the progress in Bollywood medicine, it would not have harmed anyone if he had miraculously survived. Just saying.

Rang De Basanti

Rang De Basanti - BookMyShow

This movie conjures patriotism in us and makes us very angry towards the flawed system. The parallel it draws to the freedom struggle only helps in cementing those feelings. But, wouldn’t it make us much happier or more motivated had, DJ (Aamir Khan) and his friends successfully avenged their friend’s (R. Madhavan) wrongful death instead of being claimed by it.

Agneepath - BookMyShow

Vijay Dinanath Chauhan is a household name. After spending his youth trying to avenge his father’s death and clear his name, Vijay (played by Amitabh Bachchan) deserved a life of his own and we would have liked to see that.
