Today is World Tourism Day, which has been celebrated on September 27 by the United Nations World Tourism Organization since 1980. The purpose is to raise awareness on the role of tourism within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide. One such cultural example is film tourism, which is literally popular all around the world.

There are movies shot at some really scenic locations worldwide. Bollywood is obsessed with places like Switzerland. Just like how Imtiaz Ali picks a destination for the setting of his story, similarly there's Woody Allen who has heavily contributed to this list.

Below are a bunch of films set in some magical cities (with city names as part of the movie title itself), bringing out the essence of each place, making it the perfect backdrop for some interesting stories. Lost in Translation, shot entirely in Tokyo, is an honorable mention to this list. We also look forward to Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk, which is set in the French city during World War 2, although we are not too sure of how much of the city or its essence we will be seeing.
