There was a time when a typical Bollywood film would contain seven to eight songs. Over the years, that trend has been declining but still, music is the soul of Bollywood. A melodious soundtrack goes a long way in determining how successful the movie can be. A box office hit with music that tops the charts for weeks is a common phenomenon. But Bollywood is also replete with films that bombed at the box office but their music is on the lips of the audiences even now.

Here are some of the most popular soundtracks from Bollywood flicks that were disasters at the box-office.

Jhankaar Beats (2003)

In a perfect tribute to music legend R. D. Burman, Jhankaar Beats was a melodious treat. Though the movie's plot did not impress much, the music composed by Vishal–Dadlani, especially the famous song Tu Aashiqui Hai, was appreciated by everyone.

Kyun! Ho Gaya Na… (2004)

Music composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy and lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar, the film’s music spread magic. Starring the beautiful Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi, it managed to make a meager profit, but its music is still a part of many personal playlists.

Saalam-E-Ishq (2007)

From the director of Kal Ho Na Ho, there came yet another musical extravaganza Salaam-E-Ishq. Unfortunately, not even an ensemble cast could save the film. But with songs like Salaam-E-IshqYa Rabba and Tenu Leke, the film did give something to the audiences to remember.

Anwar (2007)

It is okay if you can’t remember the film we are talking about. But we bet you will remember the song Maula Mere Maula Mere pictured on the enigmatic beauty, Nauheed Cyrusi. It was composed by Mithoon, the famous composer who has given us hits like Tum Hi HoKuch Is Tarah and Phir Mohabbat Karne Chala’.

Saawariya (2007)

A royal commercial isaster, Saawariya introduced the future stars of Bollywood, Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. The film’s musical score was, however, appreciated by many.

Shaandaar (2015)

We are still contemplating how the director of an award-winning film like Queen can create such a magnificent mess with top actors. But Amit Trivedi did a stupendous job as always and gave us hits like Gulaabo and Shaam Shaandaar.

Roy (2015)

The film met with a lot of criticism and was not liked by critics as well as the audience. But the voices of Ankit Tiwari and Amaal Mallik were noticed and praised by everyone.

Mirzya (2016)

It is the most recent debacle with a powerful soundtrack. Mirzya's music, composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy, is a treat to the ears of all the music lovers.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)

A big banner Diwali release, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was awaited by many, as the songs had already become a rage among audience.  But it seems like the music was the only saving grace for this film as the other elements did not meet the expectations of the viewers.
