The Conjuring, one of the greatest horror films of recent times, has turned into a consistent series since its first release in 2013. The Conjuring 2 released in 2016, but before that, a prequel to The Conjuring itself, Annabelle was released in 2014. Unless you've been hiding under a bed all this while, you'll know that Annabelle is one of the creepiest dolls to ever exist.
The doll made her debut in The Conjuring before having her own film. Now, another prequel will release this year, on August 11, titled Annabelle: Creation. The film is directed by David F. Sandberg and written by Gary Dauberman, with The Conjuring director James Wan serving as the producer, along with Peter Safran.
As you'd guess, the story is about how the doll came into existence. A doll-maker and his wife open their home to several girls from an orphanage that had been shut down. They thought it would be a good idea to do so since their daughter died nearly 20 years earlier. She died in a tragic accident, where she is run over by a car. Since the doll was the only thing she was holding then, he despises it and locks it away. Now, decades later, the doll 'returns' to targets the girls, attacking the weakest one – Janice, a little girl who is limp.
Coupled with the usual telekinesis and jump scares, the story still proves there's a lot more to Annabelle. It'll be interesting to see what the director can conjure up this time. Watch the trailer below.
