Known for making movies like Apaharan, Gangaajal, Raajneeti and Aarakshan, director Prakash Jha is all set to make his acting debut. He will star alongside Priyanka Chopra in the second installment of his 2003 film Gangaajal. Titled Jai Gangaajal, the movie releases on 4th March 2016. The director plays a corrupt cop, who reports to Priyanka Chopra. Prakash Jha is not the first Bollywood director to have come in front of the camera, and we’re sure he won’t be the last. Every now and then we see directors trying their hand at acting, and many of them have succeeded at it. Here are some of the Bollywood directors who have already shown their acting prowess.

Karan Johar

From styling clothes to hosting a talk show, KJo has mastered it all. The director had previously acted in the 1990 hit, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, but his big Bollywood break was Bombay Velvet. Even though the film was a box-office disaster, Karan got a lot of praise for his portrayal of the antagonist Kaizad Khambatta.

Farah is an ace choreographer and has directed hit films like Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om. The director made her acting debut in Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, and she charmed us as a 40-year-old spinster. The chemistry between her and Boman Irani was the film’s highlight.

Just like his cousin Farah, Farhan too is a multi-talented artist. After his debut in the 2009 film Rock On, there was no looking back for Farhan. He has acted in Karthik Calling Karthik, Luck by Chance, Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara and Dil Dhadakne Do amongst others.

One of Bollywood’s most underrated directors, Tigmanshu Dhulia has given us films like Paan Singh Tomar  and Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster. Apart from being a brilliant filmmaker, Tigmanshu was also seen as an actor in films like Shahid, Manjhi -The Mountain Man and Hero. He received a thumbs-up for his performance in the Sooraj Pancholi-Athiya Shetty starrer.
