The world is a filmy place and everyone likes a pinch of drama in their lives; especially Indians. We are obsessed with glamour, fashion and the filmy life. Having said that, the Indian film industry too hasn’t left any stone unturned in giving us life goals, marriage goals, bachelor’s trip goals and even honeymoon goals. It is an endless list.
If you don’t mind Bollywood adding an extra pinch of color in your life then keep yourself prepared, as here we have a list that can get you 10 steps closer to live like your favorite characters from the movies.
Here are 10 locations from your favorite movies where you can actually stay. Say yay!
The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur – Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is the perfect example as we talk about goals. Go on a trekking trip with buddies, travel the world on your own and have a grand destination wedding; it has all that an urban person wishes for. Remember the big fat wedding of Kalki Koechlin in the movie? That’s The Oberoi Udaivilas. Yes, you can go stay there and get married as well (if you like). The staff I am sure will make sure that you have an experience you will cherish for lifetime as long as your bills are settled in time, of course.
Woodville Palace Hotel, Simla – 3 Idiots
The classic heritage villa that was converted into a hotel few years ago has been a part of many movies, like Black, Raju Chacha, etc. What marks the recall of this architectural beauty is Kareena Kapoor‘s wedding in 3 Idiots. If you’re looking for a relaxed peaceful setting at Simla, this is your place. We only hope there aren’t any Rajuesque disturbances when you do.
Pataudi Palace, Haryana – Rang De Basanti
Also called as Ibrahim Kothi, Pataudi Palace is a former palace of the Nawabs of Pataudi. The place emanates royalty and Bollywood simultaneously. Many movies like Mangal Pandey, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Veer Zara, Gandhi My Father were shot here but the movie, which actually enshrined the Pataudi Palace was Rang De Basanti.
Baradari Palace, Patiala – Bodyguard
The Baradari Palace stays true to the name of Punjab – grand, lovable and hospitable. The garden palace is a piece of history in itself and is open for visitors to explore and admire. The heritage palace has been a part of several movies like Bodyguard, Mausam, Yamla Pagla Deewana, etc.
Chomu Palace, Jaipur – Bhool Bhulaiya
This palace takes you back in time when kings lived a regal life. However, it now comes packaged with modern conveniences, in a traditional setting. The haunted yet mesmerizing palace of the movie Bhool Bhulaiya is a fully functional hotel and a very popular picnic spot of Jaipur.
Lallgarh Palace, Bikaner – Band Baaja Baaraat
Band Baaja Baaraat, the movie that introduced the concept of wedding planning, also gave many the perfect venue for an ultimate royal wedding – Lallgarh Palace. The gorgeous palace has an imposing red sand-stone architecture and is operated as a premier heritage hotel of Bikaner. (Bollywood makes everyone believe that the best marriages are the ones that happen in these palaces)
Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida – Baby
The action-packed thriller, Baby, was shot at many locations of many countries, one of which was Gautam Buddha University, Noida. Many sequences were shot in the university including the grand panoramic shots of Feroze’s headquarters. Away from the hustle bustle of Delhi, the movie covered the Meditation Hall, Shanti Sarover and library of the campus, which you probably couldn’t get a chance to notice because the movie hardly offered you any breathing space.
Mandir Palace, Jaisalmer – Sarfarosh
The centuries-old palace, Mandir Palace is a lesser-known one from Jaisalmer. It came into limelight when movies like Sarfarosh and Tashan were filmed there. It is now converted into a hotel for you to adore the exquisite architecture and experience the royalty.
Rainforest Resort, Athirapally – Guru
The cascading Athirapally waterfall is also called the Niagara Falls of India, and the Rainforest Resort is the best place if you want to get soaked into the misty sprays of the Athirapally waterfall. Visit once and you’ll know what had the filmmaker Mani Ratnam go back there to shoot Raavan after filming the very successful Guru.
Span Resort & Spa, Manali – YJHD
Coming back to where we started, remember that hotel where the cast of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani stayed while camping in Manali? Settled a few kilometers away from the city, this resort is the perfect place if you want to have a little raw nature time. You’ll be surrounded by ten acres of woodland, gardens and glacial mountain views, FYI.
