Season 4 of Sherlock isn’t due for another 10 months and it has been already a long wait. What if we tell you that there are characters in Bollywood with great sleuthing skills, and they can make your wait easier. The century-old industry has a whole lot of reasons for reaching to the popularity it has reached today. One of the reasons is the ability of Bollywood to have tried their hand in all sorts of themes for their movies, though they may have been inspired or even not popular (but they tried). Similarly, apart from ACP Pradyuman, we have a lot of other reel detectives who can don the (Bowler) hat of being called Indian Sherlock Holmes.

Satyaveer Singh Randhawa from Manorama: Six feet Under

Manorama: Six Feet Under - BookMyShow

It is not easy to convict a powerful man in a small village of wrongdoing when he has all the power, and murder for him is a daily job. In such conditions, Satyaveer manages to find enough proof and confront the man in question about it. The end may leave you wanting for more, but his detective skills are commendable.

Inspector Surjan Shekhawat in Talaash

Talaash - BookMyShow

A thriller, the movie is the epic example of how to create a suspenseful ending. We see the inspector solving a normal case that has a few unexplained questions, like every other open case. While solving this case, he and his wife were trying to get over the loss of their son. This didn’t hamper his detecting skills for one bit and in the end, he did find all the answers. (A notable feat considering the nature of the case.)

Samrat in Samrat & Co.

Samrat & Co. - BookMyShow

One house, multiple mysteries – sounds like a case for Samrat. This private detective, along with his trusted assistant/ co-worker, is on top of it and manage to solve all the mysteries.

Inspector Jai in Dhoom Series

Dhoom 2 - BookMyShow

There were three movies made on this detective’s abilities to catch criminals by making more elaborate plans than the criminals themselves. But at the end of the day, he manages to nab them (well, almost).

Byomkesh Bakshy in Detective Byomkesh Bakshy

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy - BookMyShow

Like Sherlock, this detective has been immortalized by television and movies both. The 2015 movie, tells the story of Byomkesh Bakshy in the time of pre-independence Calcutta. He is known for his quick wit but has not perfected the art of sleuthing. Bumbling a little, he does manage to nail the culprits in the end.

Baadshah in Baadshah

Baadshah - BookMyShow

One of the most error-prone detectives on this list, but a detective nonetheless. He is more popular for the gadgets he used in the movie. From the manually-controlled gadgets in his hideout to the sophisticated ones mistakenly handed to him by the CBI due to some mix-up in identification. Admit it, those were very cool and made things easy for our detective.

Bobby in Bobby Jasoos

Bobby Jasoos - BookMyShow

A detective with a Hyderabadi accent and a mistress of disguises. Apart from her cases, she also has her family and ridicule of the people creating obstacles. But her skills leave no doubt about her detecting abilities.

These are just a few of the many reel detectives Bollywood has given us, each on par with everyone’s favorite Sherlock. What do you think of this list? Write in the comments below and don’t forget to share it with your friends and snoop through these movies together.
