URI – The Surgical Strike has been making waves in Bollywood. Having released over a month ago, the movie is still going strong in theatres. And the josh is not stopping! The Aditya Dhar directorial is now in its sixth week, eating into the box office results of big Bollywood movies like Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. As Gully Boy releases this week, we wonder if URI – The Surgical Strike can keep up with its winning streak. But this Vicky Kaushal starrer has already beaten many box office records so there’s no stopping it. Here are the film’s biggest achievements till date:
First Hit of the Year
URI – The Surgical Strike released early this year but two weeks after Simmba, Bollywood’s last blockbuster. While the film’s first week was comparatively slow, it slowly picked up in the second and third week and is currently unstoppable at the box office. The film has emerged a blockbuster and continues its run despite the release of big Bollywood movies later in January.

First 100-Crore Film of the Year
Passing the 100-crore mark is a new benchmark set for Bollywood movies. While earlier this was only achievable by films starring the biggies of Bollywood like Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman, last year saw a trend of content-rich films like Raazi, Badhaai Ho, Stree, and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety easily cruising past INR 100 crores in the box office and URI has joined them.
Yami Gautam’s Highest Grossing Film & Vicky’s First Solo 100-Crore Film
While two of Vicky Kaushal’s films have crossed the 100-crore mark in the last year (Raazi and Sanju), URI – The Surgical Strike is the actor’s first solo hit. As for the film’s supporting character played by Yami Gautam, this happens to be the actress’ highest grossing film till date, replacing the previously held record by Kaabil (2016), which earned INR 103.40 crores.
Not just a movie but a wave of emotion that runs through everyone! Overwhelmed with all the love! #URITheSurgicalStrike #HowsTheJosh@vickykaushal09 @SirPareshRawal @RonnieScrewvala @AdityaDharFilms @RSVPMovies @ZeeMusicCompany pic.twitter.com/PN4LaQs7M2

First Film with a Higher Second Weekend than the First
URI – The Surgical Strike was definitely the biggest hit of its week biting into the box office earnings of Bombairiya and The Accidental Prime Minister. However, good reviews and positive word-of-mouth led to a surge in the movie sales, earning the film bigger bucks in the second weekend than the first one and being the only Hindi film to do achieve this feat.
Breaks Records Held By Big Films
As the Indian audience started veering towards content-rich films, hits like Raazi, Badhaai Ho, and Stree quickly made big bucks. URI – The Surgical Strike broke the records held by these films and crossed the 100-crore benchmark faster than any of them. It also broke the previously held record by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion of Day 23 and Day 24 box office collections
#UriTheSurgicalStrike creates HISTORY… Smashes Day 23 and Day 24 records held by #Baahubali2…
Day 23: #Baahubali2 ₹ 6.35 cr… #Uri ₹ 6.53 cr
Day 24: #Baahubali2 ₹ 7.80 cr… #Uri ₹ 8.71 cr
Now #Uri holds the record of highest Day 23 and Day 24.
