Review: A typical buddy action movie. Like a blast from the past, Stallone and Kang are the quintessential odd team of men that pair up for some mindless action. There was a time in the past when a buddy action flick was a rage. Looks like it still works. Especially when Sly Stallone decides to star in it. That’s all Bullet To The Head is about. An elongated advertisement of a shirtless and tattooed Stallone kicking some major a*s. But you have to admit, it is fun to watch. At least mindless action lovers (and by that I mean our testosterone junkie boys) are definitely going to love it. If you are looking for meaning, story, plot, drama etc etc. then steer clear. Just buy the Rocky DVD instead.
A hitman and a detective pair up after a murder leaves them with the common goal of finding the culprits and saving the city from the corrupt hands of the villain. From then on it’s just a ride full of gunfire, bloodshed, fistfights and Google. Yes, I said Google. Detective Kwon played by Sung Kang (known for the fast and furious movies) has a lethal weapon that comes to his rescue each time- a smart phone hooked up with Google. But out hitman Jimmy Bobo (Stallone) is too old and old fashioned for Google. He trusts his knives and his fists over any modern toy. A few worthy action pieces, a decent amount of witty dialogues. All in all, a watchable film. Fun even, if you like mindless action flicks.
Verdict: Lots of brutal action with a 65+ muscular Sly Stallone. Watch it & hit the gym.
