Cars 3 is all set to release on June 16, in 3D and IMAX. While the first one released more than a decade ago, the third instalment in the Disney franchise seems to be on the darker side of the moon, compared to its predecessors. The film also had a special screening for the NASCAR industry in Kannapolis, North Carolina last month.
When we watched the trailer, we couldn't help but notice how similar it is to Bollywood's very own Ta Ra Rum Pum! Remember that film? It released a decade ago, so let us refresh your memory. The drama, which stars Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherji, is about a family where everything is perfect until it isn't… Saif is a brilliant racer whose career skyrockets, before his car crashes and he is seriously injured. Struggling to recover mentally, he fails to succeed on his return to the track.
Now, here's what we figured from the trailer of Cars 3. The star of the series, Lightning McQueen, is involved in a horrific crash as well. Will he bounce back too, like Saifu did? Will his lover support him through and through? It is shown that he trains to come back stronger and leave behind a legacy. While Rusty was the guy who knocked out Saif, Rusteze is also a vital character in this film, surely not evil though. Both films are also set in the USA.
Before we get excited to think that Hollywood copied from Bollywood, let's not forget that TRRP's plot is said to be combined with that of Tom Cruise's Days of Thunder and Will Ferrell's Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. Here's a bonus fact: the title song of Ta Ra Rum Pum is a four-minute animated endeavor, executed by which studio? Well, Walt Disney Studios of course, as a part of their three-film deal with Yash Raj Films.
