The Craziest Christian Bale Body Transformations

When it comes to dedicated actors in Hollywood, Christian Bale is certainly a name that comes to mind. Often known as Mr. Stretch and Chameleon, he can easily blend into any role and is known for his ability to gain and lose weight like it is just a couple of kilogrammes. He can go from being a ripped hunk to a shrivelled skeleton, almost at will.

Bale first appeared in films at the age of 13, when he was cast in the starring role of Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun (1987). Since then, he has only been going to great lengths to portray his characters. Today, on the Oscar-winner's 43rd birthday, let's have a look at the craziest transformations he has gone through since the start of the millennium. Happy birthday, Bale!

American Psycho (2000)
This thriller marks the first time he got ripped, to a very lean 81 kg.

The Machinist (2004)
This is easily his craziest transformation, losing almost 30 kg for the role, making him look rather freaky.

Batman Begins (2005)
He obviously had to bulk up after The Machinist, and had to put on 45 kg to play the role of Batman. Within a year itself, he pushed himself so hard that he ended up gaining 9-10 kgs more than what was required, so he had to dial it back down. Damn!

Rescue Dawn (2006)
Just a year later he dropped it again; losing 25 kgs for this role.

The Fighter (2010)
He dropped even more weight, as he had to play the role of a crackhead.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
It's time for him to be Batman again, so he bulked up by 24 kg.

American Hustle (2013)
This is perhaps his easiest transformation, as he had to put on fat, which was his first time doing so. This still ended up being costly, since he herniated a disc in his back and lost 3 inches of height.

Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014)
Back to a 'normal' and average weight now, looks like he finally hit equilibrium as has maintained this shape even for his films after this one. Finally, the real Mr. Bale.
