Director: Raja Krishna Menon
Producer: Bhushan Kumar
There are tonnes of Bollywood films that are a copy of Hollywood movies. While some directors say they were inspired, the others are bold enough to call it an official adaptation. Chef, which is set to release on October 6, is adapted from Jon Favreau’s film of the same name. The 2014 English movie won critical acclaim and was commercially successful.
The Hindi adaptation is set in Kerala and Saif Ali Khan plays the titular role. His character – Roshan Karla – is a brilliant cook who opens a food truck after working with fine-dining restaurants. The film also focuses on the bond he shares with his son (played by Svar Kamble). Saif’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, reportedly will have a cameo appearance in the movie.
Chef is directed by Raja Krishna Menon whose last film Airlift was a blockbuster. To prep for the role, Khan honed his cooking skills under the guidance of professional chefs. The actor claims that he can now whip up a variety of dishes. The film has been shot in Kerala, Delhi, Goa, and Rajasthan. Chef will be out on October 6 so check this space to read our review.
