Dunkirk Trailer - BookMyShow

What We Love About The Dunkirk Trailer

Christopher Nolan is back to grace our screens with what is sure to be another cinematic masterpiece, Dunkirk. The movie is about the evacuation of Allied soldiers surrounded by the Nazi troops on the beach of Dunkirk, France during World War II. While Dunkirk is little known outside of British history, the trailer already has millions of people talking about it. The movie is set to release July 21, 2017, and we can certainly look forward to watching at least one more trailer before that. But till then, here's what we loved about this Dunkirk trailer!

Nolan’s Take on War
Dunkirk - BookMyShow

Most directors make a war movie at some point in their career. World War II is a genre that often becomes Oscar-worthy. There’s been Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan, Pearl Harbor, The Pianist, and The English Patient. While usually tackled by directors when they are first starting out, Nolan is not one to go by the books. Nolan is known for unexpected twists in his movies, and it is certainly going to be interesting to see how he handles a movie based on real events.

Breathtaking Visuals

Every frame of the trailer is beautiful on its own and there’s good reason for it. Remember Interstellar? This is Nolan’s second movie with the cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema.

Not one to compromise on authenticity, Nolan has filmed the movie on the actual Dunkirk beach in France. He’s even rumored to have spent 5 million of the budget to buy a vintage World War II plane to crash on-screen.

Star-studded Cast

Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy have both worked with Nolan previously in Dark Knight series and Inception. Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh are other big names that we see in the trailer. And let’s not forget the actor that the Directioners are excited to see – Harry Styles. Most of the actors in the movie have won or been nominated for Oscars, so it’s a safe bet that Nolan is reaching for a few Academy Awards.

Epic music
Dunkirk - Bookmyshow

Nolan has teamed up with the German composer Hans Zimmer yet again for this venture. Nolan has worked with Hans Zimmer previously on Interstellar, Inception and the Dark Knight series. The trailer features characteristic Zimmer music, which builds up the gravity of the scenes in the movie. There’s only one word that we have for the music which also sums up what we feel about the movie – EPIC.

Here’s the trailer for the movie, in case you haven’t had a chance to watch it yet.
