Throughout his Hollywood career, Dwayne Johnson has saved the world multiple times in films. It’s easy to believe someone who looks like a superhuman would be the one who saves us all from threats fatal to humanity. This December, he returns as the in-game avatar, Dr. Smolder Bravestone, to save Jumanji once again as the game moves to a whole new level.
But before we see him in action in Jumanji: The Next Level, let’s take a look at all the films where The Rock has saved the world.
G. I. Joe: Retaliation (2013)
Dwayne Johnson steps in as Roadblock to prevent the worst from happening with the help of other G. I. Joes as the bad guys of the Cobra unit plan to become dominate the free world with the help of villainously-named Zartan impersonating the President of the United States.
Not limited by humanity, Johnson played a demigod and the son of Zeus in this film to save this mythical world. Armed with inhuman strength, Hercules defends a kingdom by leading an army and then proceeds to perform the legendary Twelve Labors in a mid-credits sequence.
San Andreas (2015)
Not only does The Rock succeed in battling bad guys, but he’s also up to save the world during a natural disaster. This film showed him as a helicopter-rescue pilot as disastrous earthquakes spring up along the San Andreas fault line.
Central Intelligence (2016)
On the one hand, we have a shady criminal is selling spy satellite codes to the highest bidder, leading to disastrous consequences. On the other hand, we have Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart equally equipped to fight and entertain you with comedy. Guess who wins?
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)
Even though The Rock was just one of the players in a game, he definitely did his part to stop the world of Jumanji from being destroyed by the evil Van Pelt. Jumanji also gave us his skill-chart, letting us know his strengths (which includes a smoldering look) and weaknesses (none).
Saving the world is hard work even for The Rock when you face a giant wolf and a giant crocodile. But undaunted by their sizes, Dwayne Johnson teams up with his best friend, a giant gorilla (because human sidekicks weren’t enough), to take them down in an epic rampage.
Hobbs & Shaw (2019)
Dwayne Johnson teamed up with Jason Statham and the Hobbs & Shaw duo worked together in this Fast & Furious spin-off film to prevent a world-ending virus from getting into the wrong hands.
Can’t wait to see Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson save the world again? Watch him in Jumanji: The Next Level.
