John Krasinski co-wrote, directed, and starred in his first horror film with the silent box-office winner A Quiet Place. The film did end on a rather grim yet conclusive note but, grossing over $340 million worldwide, its blockbuster success was enough to warrant a sequel. A Quiet Place – Part 2 sees Krasinki’s return as writer and director along with the main cast reprising their roles as the family from the first film.
This sequel will pick up shortly after where the original left us as the Abbott family venture into the unknown after the death of their father (John Krasinski). They will now face the terrors of the outside world with the knowledge that high-frequency noises hurt the fearsome creatures. Emily Blunt returns to her role as mother Evelyn Abbott, with Millicent Simmonds as the daughter Regan and Noah Jape as the son Marcus. Accompanied by their newborn baby, this family continues their fight for survival in silence while realizing that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only lurking threats. They cross paths with other survivors played by Peaky Blinders’ Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou from Guardians of the Galaxy and Shazam.
Although most of the film’s plot has been kept hush-hush, the trailer of A Quiet Place – Part 2 gives us a deeper understanding of what to expect. We get a glimpse at Day 1 of the invasion and we also get a warning that the creatures are not the only things to be feared. As Cillian Murphy’s character puts it, “The people who are left, they’re not the kind of people worth saving.” Cinematographer Polly Morgan also described the sequel’s approach as, “more about the children growing up, exploring the world and learning to protect themselves.”
With the film’s cast and crew remaining silent about the film much like its characters, we will have to wait to watch the horror revealed on the big screen. Originally set for a May release, A Quiet Place – Part 2 has now been pushed up and will be released on March 20, 2020. To get the latest updates on the film, click on the ‘Interested’ button below.
