Jackie Chan is Back in Action With The Foreigner

Director: Martin Campbell
Cast: Jackie Chan, Pierce Brosnan
Written by: David Marconi, Stephen Leather
Release Date: 13 October 2017

The Foreigner is Jackie Chan's first film in a long time with him in a serious role. It's an action film, but it's very different from the lively roles we see him in. Based on the 1992 novel, The Chinaman, by Stephen Leather, this is about a man who goes on a revenge rampage after his daughter is killed in a terrorist attack and the government isn't of much help. The 63-year-old Jackie Chan will show his acting skills that go beyond action stunts as he plays Quan Ngoc Minh, a humble businessman and a devastated father who might have a secret past.

Jackie Chan's opponent in The Foreigner is Pierce Brosnan, the ex-James Bond himself. Brosnan plays a British government official, Liam Hennessey, whose own mysterious past might give clues to finding the killers. The Chan-Brosnan duo might be older than the heroes we see in action blockbusters, but they definitely have the experience to back themselves up.

The Foreigner is also director Martin Campbell's comeback film. His last film was Green Lantern in 2011, which didn't do so well. But he definitely has some classics under his belt. Campbell is reuniting with Brosnan after working together way back in 1995, for GoldenEye, now making this a much-anticipated return.

It's been too long since we've seen the Hong Kong star perform his impeccable action sequences, and just for that reason, The Foreigner will be a delight to watch. Jackie Chan's new avatar will also be interesting to see, especially now that he has received a well-deserved honorary Academy Award this year.
