James Bond is one of the oldest heroes of Hollywood who continues to remain popular even today. The suave spy has had many avatars over the years with Daniel Craig being the latest 007 agent since the 2006 Bond film Casino Royale. Previously referred to as Bond 25, the new film has finally got an official title – No Time To Die. With his fifth appearance as Bond, Daniel Craig will become the first actor to have played the role for the longest time of fourteen years with nobody replacing him in between.
No Time To Die is scheduled to release next year but there has been a lot that’s been going on behind the scenes ever since the film was announced in 2016. The director has changed a couple of times with Denis Villeneuve and Danny Boyle having been in talks for the film before the project eventually came to Cary Joji Fukanaga. Fukanaga has gained recognition in the television world as the creator of acclaimed series like HBO’s True Detective and Netflix’s Maniac. This will be his first feature film as a director since the 2015 war drama Beasts of No Nation. The script for No Time to Die has been written by five people, including Fukanaga, the duo of Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (who have worked on every Bond script since The World is Not Enough in 1999), Fleabag writer-actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Scott Z. Burns, who has written scripts for movies like The Bourne Ultimatum and Contagion.
In front of the camera, the cast is pretty stacked as well. The sequel will have Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Rory Kinnear, and Lea Seydoux reprising their roles. The new cast is equally exciting with Ana de Armas, Lashana Lynch, David Dencik, Dali Benssalah, Billy Magnussen, and Rami Malek joining the main cast. Malek has been confirmed to be playing the villain and he’s mentioned in an interview that he only agreed to play the role if his character was not involved in terrorist acts that were associated with any ideology or religion.
The film’s recently released trailer revealed James Bond in incognito mode as he swaps his suits for a tranquil life in Jamaica. However, his vacation is short-lived as his old friend Felix Lister asks for his help in rescuing a kidnapped scientist. As he returns to active service, his mission becomes rather treacherous with a mysterious villain wielding dangerous new technology. Check out the first official trailer for the new 007 movie below.
No Time to Die will be releasing in April 2020. Click ‘Interested’ to stay tuned for the latest updates about the film.
