Every generation is blessed with an artist who can do it all – act, dance, sing and write. We’ve had Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson in past; and right now there’s one guy who seems to be way ahead of his competition – Donald Glover.

If you’ve visited YouTube recently, you surely know of This is America. The song has been written and sung by Donald Glover who prefers to go by his stage name Childish Gambino.

With millions of views days after release, many critics are looking at the song as an early participant in the race for the Grammys. You can easily see Donald’s phenomenal talents as a musician in this video.

Donald first hit big time with one of the most underrated comedies of the recent era – Community. His character, Troy, is still the favourite for all the fans of the show.

With impeccable comic timing and his amazing chemistry with Dany Pudi, he was one of the most recognisable faces on television. After being a part of a sitcom, Donald made a switch for the more serious Atlanta.

Atlanta deals with music and racism in the United States. It’s regarded as one of the best shows that is running currently.

He slowly became a household names with his acting skills and it was only a matter of time before Disney came calling. Donald made a brief cameo in Spider-Man: Homecoming and many think of his scene as an allusion to a black Spider-Man who might replace Tom Holland as Peter Parker.

One of the major criticisms of mainstream cinema has been the lack of diversity, but Disney seems to be hellbent of correcting the problem. Lando has been an integral part of the Star Wars lore and casting a black artist seemed like an easy decision for Disney.

They put their trust in Donald and going by the trailers, he looks absolutely stunning as Han’s trusted friend.

Glover has won five Writers Guild of America Awards from six nominations for 30 Rock and Atlanta, a Golden Globe, Critics Choice Award and PGA Award for Atlanta, three Primetime Emmy nominations and one MTV Movie + TV Award nomination for Atlanta, American Comedy Awards’ Breakout Performance of the Year for 2012, two Grammy nominations including Best Rap Album for Because the Internet and three MTV VMA nominations.

It shouldn’t come off as a surprise if Glover manages to completely take over the big screen in Solo: A Star Wars Story. We’re keeping our fingers crossed and our hopes up about Donald.
