Director: Stefano Sollima
Writer: Taylor Sheridan
Release Date: 29 June, 2018
After fighting all the Marvel superheroes as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, and then fighting Deadpool as Cable in Deadpool 2, Josh Brolin is back in his third film of the summer blockbuster season to fight the Mexican drug cartel as Matt Graver. Although Emily Blunt won’t be in this film, Benicio Del Toro is making a return as Alejandro Gillick and his famous phrase, “Adios.” The two new actresses joining the film are Catherine Keener who was recently seen in Get Out and Isabela Moner, whose last big role was in Transformers: The Last Knight, and for whom this seems to be the most intense film yet.
Sicario: Day of the Soldado has been directed by the Italian filmmaker, Stefano Sollima. Denis Villeneuve couldn’t return to direct this film due to scheduling conflicts but the film seems to be in good hands. The script is written by Taylor Sheridan, who had also written the first film. It’s also been reported that if the Sicario 2 goes well, we’ll soon get a third film completing the trilogy.
Being a sequel, the intensity of this film is sure to be doubled, and it’s already evident in the trailer. The cartel activities have escalated, the body count is higher, and Matt Graver is intent on declaring a full-on war. We’re back in Mexico, and this time, there will be no rules.
Villeneuve and Emily Blunt’s absence from the film had many fans worried but the fears have been dispelled. The first reactions to the film from movie critics have been announced on social media, and it’s already being called one of the best movies of 2018.

SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO is, surprisingly, pretty awesome. Tense, gritty, and ends on a note where I want more. Benicio del Toro is amazing.
