Hollywood’s most awaited horror flick – IT – has released worldwide today. Based on the book by Stephen King, this film has been directed by Andy Muschietti of Mama (2013) fame and stars Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. Easily one of the best horror movies of the year, IT has opened to raving reviews. Everybody is talking about it and Pennywise has gripped the world once again. The last time King’s book was adapted, was the 1990 two-part miniseries. The film covers the events in the first part and a sequel is in the works. What makes this film even better is that you can watch it in IMAX theatres. While the movie is also available in other screens, the IMAX experience is simply out of this world.
Watching a movie in IMAX is mainly exciting due to the effects. With a super large screen, you are not only watching the movie but feel like you’re in it. The clarity and details in each frame are thrilling to watch, especially for a movie like IT, where there are shocks and thrills in every scene. The audio in an IMAX screen is also better, which works brilliantly for a horror movie, where sound plays an important role. There are multiple whispers in several instances during the movie, which plays out magnificently in IMAX, as it seems to come from different directions. Even the notes of the music and the clink of a knife falling are clearer with this format. Technology is indeed hitting the skies and this one is just making the movie watching experience better.
IMAX does not necessarily mean 3D. Just like Dunkirk, which was a 2D movie available in IMAX screens, IT is also opening in IMAX theatres across the country. If you don’t mind spending a little extra money, catch this movie in these special screens and experience the best of the film. Otherwise, the movie is also being screened in regular theatres around you. But don’t miss out on the horror film of the year; you can also read our review of the same.
