2019 was a great year for superhero movie fans. Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame became the highest-grossing movie of all time while we also had a new Spider-Man movie. From DC, we also got two hits: Shazam! and Joker, with Joker becoming the first R-rated film to cross billion dollars at the worldwide box office. The start of the new decade also has lots of superhero movies to look forward to from DC, Marvel, and even Sony. Here is the full list of 2020 superhero movies.
Birds of Prey And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn
Release Date: 7 February 2020
Following the immense popularity of Harley Quinn from 2016’s Suicide Squad, DC now brings the Birds of Prey movie which has also been produced by Margot Robbie. The film follows Harley after her break-up with Joker as she joins Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) against an evil crime lord, Black Mask (Ewan McGregor). The New Mutants
Release Date: 3 April 2020
The New Mutants is an X-Men film that was originally supposed to be released back in 2018. The film was then delayed and had its release date postponed multiple times. After 20th Century Fox’s merger with Disney, the release has finally been scheduled in 2020. The film starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, and Henry Zaga follows a group of young mutants who escape a secret facility where they’re being held.

The first Marvel Studios film releasing in 2020, Black Widow will be a prequel following Natasha Romanoff. Besides Scarlett Johnasson, this film will also star Rachel Weisz and David Harbour. There have been very few details revealed about the film with only a first look being revealed during the Disney D23 Expo so far.

Wonder Woman 1984
Release Date: 5 June, 2020
Gal Gadot will be returning as the Amazonian warrior in Wonder Woman 1984. Patty Jenkins is also returning as the director and it’s also rumored that Chris Pine also be starring in the sequel even though his character, the American pilot Steve Trevor, had been killed in the first film. Wonder Woman 1984 will also be starring Pedro Pascal and Kristen Wiig.

Morbius will be the second film in Sony’s Marvel Universe (the first being the 2018 film about the Spider-Man villain, Venom). Morbius the Living Vampire is another Spider-Man villain, but unlike Venom, he’s never been seen in a movie before. The role of Morbius, a scientist who becomes a vampire of sorts while trying to cure his rare blood disease, will be played by Jared Leto.

Despite getting less than positive reviews from the critics, Venom starring Tom Hardy was popular among the audiences and went on to become the seventh highest-grossing film of 2018. The sequel is being directed by Andy Serkis and also has Woody Harrelson, Michelle Williams, and Reid Scott reprising their roles from the first movie.

This Marvel movie doesn’t seem to be a typical superhero movie as it follows a race of immortal aliens created to protect humanity. What’s got everyone most excited about The Eternals is the ensemble cast which features Angelina Jolie, Kit Harrington, Kumail Nanjiani, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, and more.
