Who hasn’t heard of Goosebumps? The horror book series for children by R. L. Stine has sold millions of copies worldwide. In 2015, it was adapted for the big screen. The first Goosebumps film was a massive success, both critically and at the box office. Now it’s back with a sequel right in time for Halloween and it’s named aptly. Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween will hit theatres internationally before the spooky festival and we can only hope it releases in India around the same time.
In the last film, Jack Black played the role of the author R. L. Stine. He recently starred in another children’s fantasy-horror film, The House With a Clock in its Walls, which was directed by Eli Roth and received mostly positive reviews from critics. Based on the trailers, Black seems to have a limited role in the sequel as R. L. Stine. But comedy actor Ken Jeong has been added to the cast to make sure the laughs keep coming. You may remember the doctor-turned-actor from his role as Mr. Chow in The Hangover movies, Ben Chang from the show Community, or as Dr. Ken from the show of the same name. He’s known for playing manic characters who can do great physical and situational comedy.
Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween will also have an all-new family – the Quinns – who will be involved in the hijinks this October. The film will follow Kathy (Wendi McLendon-Covey) and her two children – high-school senior Sarah (Madison Iseman) and middle-schooler Sonny (Jeremy Ray Taylor). Wendi McLendon-Covey has been a part of many comedy films and shows like Bridesmaids and The Goldbergs, and if the kids seem familiar to you, it’s because you might have seen them in the biggest hits of last year. Madison Iseman played Bethany in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jeremy Ray Taylor played Ben Hanscom in the movie adaptation of Stephen King’s IT. The other kid joining the Quinn siblings is Sam Carter, who will be played by Caleel Harris. Harris appears in the acclaimed series Castle Rock, which is also based on Stephen King’s books. With the cast having acted in comedy or horror films before, Goosebumps 2 will be bringing you plenty of both.

In this film, Sonny and Sam go into an abandoned house that previously belonged to the author R. L. Stine. They discover a book called Haunted Halloween that wasn’t meant to be found. The book releases a living dummy called Slappy who wants to create a Halloween apocalypse with the help of other Goosebumps monsters. Sonny, Sam, and Madison have to work together to save their town.
