October is just around the corner, which means we’re all bracing ourselves for the goosebumps and the chill in our spines. What’s most exciting is that, after 10 legendary films, the Halloween franchise is bringing us a brand new film. However, this one will disregard all the other films and give us a direct sequel to the first 1978 film.

In the 11th installment of the Halloween series, Jamie Lee Curtis is returning to her legendary role as Laurie Strode for a final confrontation with the masked killer whom she narrowly escaped on Halloween night four decades ago. And in the brand new trailer for the film, we find out exactly what she’s up against.

The trailer starts off with a long sequence of Myers silently wreaking havoc on Halloween night, attacking unsuspecting trick-or-treaters. About 40 years after his first killing spree, he seems to be back for blood as he lurks around with his signature mask while many believe he’s just another person in a costume. But what really excites us about the new trailer is that we are reunited with Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. She has been training herself for the moment when she’s finally face-to-face with the deranged killer. “I prayed every night that he would escape,” she says in voiceover. “So I can kill him.

While Jamie returns to her role as Laurie Strode, we will also see Nick Castle take on the role of Michael Myers again. Joining them are Judy Greer as Laurie’s daughter and Andi Matichak as her granddaughter. The original Halloween mastermind John Carpenter also returns as executive producer of the film, as he also composes the score and serves as a creative consultant.

Laurie Strode’s return has fans of the franchise eagerly waiting, prepared for another showdown with the notorious Myers. From what we’ve seen so far, the direct sequel to the 1978 classic seems like it could live up to the hype.
