Back in 1997, we were introduced to the on-screen duo of Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith as two agents of a secret organization called the Men in Black and, boy, was it a fun ride! Two sequels and over two decades later, the franchise is ready to be reborn with a brand new spin-off film. Starring the Thor: Ragnarok duo Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, Men in Black: International will introduce us to the next generation of MIB agents.

The much-anticipated fourth installment in the iconic sci-fi franchise will serve up the same action and spy adventure that we adored in a whole new light. We won’t see Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones returning to their original roles as agents who supervise extraterrestrial lifeforms who live on Earth and hide their existence from ordinary humans. However, the two new agents seem equally promising. The film joins Molly, played by Tessa Thompson, who walked away with all her memories intact after having an alien encounter as a young girl. She has been spending most of her adult life tracking down the super-secretive and mysterious organization. When she succeeds, she enters the familiar New York headquarters and talks her way into a job as Agent M. Agent M is assigned on a mission to suss out a potential mole problem with her partner Agent H (Chris Hemsworth) who is a part of the London-based investigative crew. Last seen in Men in Black 3, Emma Thompson reprises her role as Agent O, the head of MIB’s US branch. Liam Neeson joins in as High T, the head of MIB’s UK branch.
The film’s trailer reunites us with the iconic piece of MIB tech called the neuralyzer. All one has to do is stare into the light of the neuralyzer and the memory that you want gone will be wiped. The trusty tech was a fan favorite and the butt of many funny bits when Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones used it in the original films. Reportedly playing a much more important role in Men in Black: International, it’ll be interesting to see how it comes in use for the new stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson.
Men In Black: International is all set to take us on a globe-trotting adventure with new agents when it hits cinemas on 13th June. Directed by F. Gary Gray and written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, this spin-off film might even spawn another trilogy of its own. Guess we will have to wait to find out!
