When you can’t get enough of your favorite movie characters, it’s always great to hear that they’re coming back for more on the big screen. While 2018 has been a great year for movie buffs to see their favorite characters return to theatres, there are even more reboots, sequels and spin-offs coming in 2019.

Here are some of the most anticipated movies that you can’t miss out on:

It: Chapter 2

Adapted from the legendary horror author Stephen King’s iconic 1986 novel of the same name, this series began with 2017’s It. After the first film was a big box-office hit, the upcoming September release became one of the most highly anticipated horror sequels of this year.

Joker

Joker has been played by many different actors over the years – Jack NicholsonHeath Ledger, and Jared Leto. Now the character will be played by Joaquin Phoenix in a film based on the DC comics but separate from the DCEU films. The film is reportedly going to be a dark one, unlike anything we’ve seen from DC before. Read more about Joker here.

Frozen 2

Disney’s Frozen won unending praise from audiences as well as critics and even became the highest-grossing animated film of all time. The film spawned a major merchandising success with the soundtrack Let It Go soaring on the charts. That only means that expectations for this sequel are at an all-time high.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

This film continues from where the 2014 Maleficent film left off. Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) now has Aurora (Elle Fanning) under her wing but doesn’t see eye-to-eye with her on a lot of things including Aurora’s marriage to Prince Philip (Harris Dickinson). This film will also feature Michelle Pfeiffer as the Queen of the neighboring kingdom & Philip’s mother. Click here to know more about this film.

Jumanji: The Next Level

Jumanji: The Next Level is a sequel to the 2017 film, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and the fourth installment of the Jumanji franchise. In this movie, Spencer (Alex Wolff) goes back into the game and now his friends, grandfather (Danny DeVito), and grandfather’s friend (Danny Glover) get sucked into the game to save him. Doctor Sleep

Doctor Sleep is based on events that take place 40 years after The Shining and we can’t wait to see Danny Torrance all these years later. Based on a book by Stephen King, this Mike Flanagan directorial is already garnering a lot of hype.

Zombieland 2: Double Tap

Zombieland is considered to be one of the funniest zombie movies of all time. Ten years after its release, we’re finally getting a sequel and the original cast of the film are now all big names with pretty much everyone having won or been nominated for an Oscar. They’re all returning to slaughter more undead in style and horror and comedy fans couldn’t be more excited.

Charlie’s Angels

Get ready for the reboot of the Charlie’s Angels film series starring three new angels – Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska. Directed by Elizabeth Banks, this film is all set to take the angels around the world with stops at Istanbul, Hamburg, and Berlin.

Terminator: Dark Fate

Terminator was a franchise that nobody expected a sequel from, but since it’s been announced, it’s become one of the most anticipated films of the year. Arnold Schwarzenegger is back and so is Linda Hamilton, who seems to be protecting another woman who’s in the same place her character was years earlier – being hunted by a Terminator.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Watch the surviving resistance face the First Order yet again in this highly-anticipated film that completes the Skywalker trilogy and is a sequel to AbramsThe Force Awakens (2015) and Rian Johnson‘s The Last Jedi (2017). Stars Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is slated to release this  December.
