The last couple of years have proven that this strategy works. Movie franchises are making more money than ever and fans are loving each new version of their beloved films and characters. The latest film of the Grudge series was a reboot of the 2004 American movie of the same name, which by itself was a remake of the 2002 Japanese horror film Ju-On: The Grudge. The film took us through a single mother’s ordeal of saving herself and her son from a violent death in a cursed house. Read our review here.
This new take on the popular fantasy tale took us back to the beloved veterinarian who can talk to animals. In the film, Dolittle had set sail on an epic adventure to a mythical island where he crossed old adversaries and encountered new wondrous creatures. Read our review here.
Bad Boys for Life
A sequel to Bad Boys (1995) and Bad Boys II (2003), this final film of the franchise reunited Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett for an epic mission. Just as they’re about to retire, an old adversary whose brother they had killed earlier resurfaces and the bad boys’ duo faced their one last enemy. Read our review here.
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)
Harley Quinn stole the show in Suicide Squad (2016), so it was only a matter of time before she got her own spin-off film. The latest DC film followed her split with Joker as she joined Black Canary, Huntress, and Renee Montoya on a mission to save a young girl from an evil crime lord. Read our review here.
Brahms: The Boy II
A sequel to The Boy (2016), this horror film explores the sinister history of the Heelshire Mansion even further. A new family moves in, unaware of the past horrors, and soon begins to feel afraid when their young boy becomes friends with the eerily lifelike doll named Brahms. Read more.
The Invisible Man
Based on the book by H. G. Wells, this sci-fi horror film is a remake of the 1933 film of the same name. It focuses on Cecilia who is haunted by the invisible spirit of her abusive ex-boyfriend, whose death she believes to be a hoax. She must now stop this evil before it destroys everyone she loves.
A Quiet Place: Part II
A sequel to A Quiet Place (2018), this horror film takes us back to the post-apocalyptic world infested by monsters with a highly sharp hearing sense. Evelyn Abbott returns with her kids Regan and Marcus, after the death of her husband in the first film and the birth of their newborn baby.
A live-action remake of Disney’s famous story from China, Mulan is about a young woman of the same name who masquerades as a male warrior in battle. She takes the place of her ailing father and trains with the other men to be just as strong, powerful, and fit for the battle that earns her the respect of the nation.
