Spider-Man is one of the most beloved superheroes around the world. The very first film that came out in 2002 even ushered in the superhero era. Since then, we’ve seen many different versions of the hero in movies. There have been three actors who have played him, and multiple voice actors who have played different versions of Spider-Man with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Spider-Man: Far From Home will continued the journey of the MCU version in July after he returned in Endgame. The Far From Home trailer also mentions a multiverse, so there might even be more Spider-Men in the future. While there is no way to decide which of the portrayals we have till now is the best, it can be decided which of them would win if they all had to fight each other in an actual multiverse battle.
Here are our four contenders:
Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man
Sam Raimi’s attempt to bring Spider-Man to the big screen with Tobey was a massive hit. This Peter Parker is perhaps the strongest of them all as we saw him stop a train with his webs in the second film. He lacks fancy suits but makes up for it with his strength and experience. As no other superheroes exist in this universe, he has had to rely on himself to fight the supervillains that threaten the city and the lives of those he loves. He’s fought Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, and Venom – all without much help from anyone else.
Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man
The Sony reboot changed a few things about the superhero. Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker more technologically advanced and builds a custom suit all by himself that’s more durable than the one we’ve seen before. He even creates his own web-shooters out of old watches. He’s fought Lizard, Electro, and Green Goblin. So he may not be as strong as Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, but he can have the upper hand strategically.
Tom Holland’s MCU Spider-Man
The friendly neighbourhood superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is played by Tom Holland. This Peter Parker played by the youngest actor we’ve seen yet and his actions are also close to what a true high-schooler’s behaviour. He has the advantage of having the most powerful suit built by Iron Man and has fought against Thanos’s army which we saw in Endgame. The full capabilities of his new suits can also be seen in the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailers which shows us a high-tech suit with mechanical arms and an all-black stealth suit that’s given to Peter by Nick Fury.
Miles Morales’ Spider-Man (Voiced By Shameik Moore)
Into the Spider-Verse is the first Spidey film we’ll see whose main character’s alter-ego isn’t Peter Parker. He’s Miles Morales, a normal high school teenager with spider-like abilities, and he’s tutored by Peter Parker, who is a Spider-Man from another universe. As this film has multiple versions of Spider-Man, we’ll only take the lead into consideration. Considering that he’s around the same age as the MCU version, they are likely to have similar skills, except he has the advantage of Spidey Sense and invisibility, but he doesn’t seem to have a super-suit yet.
Knowing all their strengths and weaknesses, it becomes clear who the most powerful one is. If they fight without any special suits, Tobey Maguire’s version would be the winner. With the suits, nobody can come close to Tony Stark’s genius and Tom Holland’s MCU version would have the upper hand. If Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man could have the superhero suit made by Stark, he’d be nearly unbeatable. Miles Morales’ version, unfortunately, is too new to the game and while he may have invisibility, he doesn’t have any fancy suits or experience. So in a multiverse battle where all the Spider-Men fight each other equipped with everything that they have, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is undoubtedly going to be the winner.
