Everything You Need To Know About Den of Thieves

January has been a generous month from Hollywood with action films. After 12 Strong and The Commuter, we now have a third power-packed film this month – Den of Thieves, a heist film with Gerard Butler in the lead.

Director: Christopher Gudegast

Cast: Gerard Butler, Pablo Schreiber, 50 Cent, O'Shea Jackson Jr.

Release Date: 2 February 2017

Den of Thieves is a cops-and-robbers tale that follows the lives of an elite unit of LA police and a group of bank robbers. Gerard Butler plays a beefy LA cop who isn't afraid to go the extra mile to get the bad guys behind bars. On the other side, the state's most successful bank robbers are planning a seemingly impossible heist being planned on the Federal Reserve Bank. Only one question remains – who will succeed – the cops or the thieves?

Den of Thieves is the first film this year from Gerard Butler. He has two other films this year, a thriller, Keepers, and the third film in the Fallen series, Angel Has Fallen. Gerard Butler gained 25 lbs for his role, on the recommendation of director Christian Gudegast.

Apart from Butler, Den of Thieves also stars Pablo Schreiber who is known for his role in the TV series Orange Is The New Black and American Gods. Schreiber is a star on the rise who is also involved in Damien Chazelle's First Man, a biopic coming out later this year about Neil Armstrong which also stars Ryan Gosling. The American rapper, Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson, is also a part of the cast. Although this isn't 50 Cent's first film role, he usually plays himself so this film will really test his acting chops. Schreiber and 50 Cent play the leaders of the bank robbers who will be trying to pull off the impossible heist. O'Shea Jackson, who played Ice Cube in the music biopic Straight Outta Compton is also playing a major role in Den of Thieves.

Den of Thieves has already released in a few countries, including the U.S. While there have been mixed reviews from the critics, the audiences appear to be loving this action-packed film. New York Times has called it "admirably weird" and L.A Times has said it has "a good sense of humor and self-awareness". Haven't seen the Den of Thieves trailer yet? Watch it below:
