The film, which is slated for a September release, follows five friends who go on a road trip and try to locate Stefanie "Fanny" Fernandes (Anjali Patil). However, things don’t go according to plan, leading to a whole lot of entertainment.
Though we’ve seen glimpses of the film through posters and tweets, the first trailer for Finding Fanny doesn’t release until July 9, 2014. Here’s what we can expect from the trailer (and the film):
Arjun Kapoor in an all-new avatar
Arjun Kapoor will don an all-new look for Finding Fanny. After he posted a picture on Twitter, Arjun‘s avatar was even compared to John Lennon!
To add to the iconic glasses, the star will also be seen sporting a tattoo on the nape of his neck. This will be in addition to the ‘maa‘ tattoo he already has.
Deepika Padukone’s new look
Deepika Padukone, who plays Angie in Finding Fanny, will be seen in an all-new avatar as well. As the first look showed, the actress will trade in the saris and cocktail dresses for beautiful Goan sundresses. Even with the blood-stained cleaver in her hand, Deepika still managed to look lovely!
The Ranveer-Arjun bromance, revisited
Finding Fanny will also revisit one of Bollywood’s favorite bromances. Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, who starred in Gunday, will come together on the silver screen again. Although Ranveer will only make a cameo appearance, it’ll still be nice to see the duo together again.
The beautiful beaches of Goa
Finding Fanny is about five buddies who embark on a road trip in the scenic Goa. It’s safe to assume that the movie will prominently feature breathtaking views of Goan beaches. Everyone who can’t make it to Goa just yet can live vicariously through Fanny’s friends!
Dark, gritty humor
Finding Fanny has been helmed by Homi Adajania, the director behind 2006’s Being Cyrus. If Fanny’s tale is anything like the latter, it is bound to be filled with dark, gritty humor that’ll make you chuckle and think. Fingers crossed!
A beautiful message
Apart from promising to be an entertaining black comedy, Finding Fanny will also have a message. At the end of the shoot, director Homi Adajania wrote individual letters to the cast and crew of the movie. In the letter, he wrote: "Just so you could send out a strong message that even mush-brained dysfunctional buffoons are also, apparently, people. People, who deserve 90 minutes of their own little bizarre story."
In fact, Homi Adajania even gave us a glimpse into the five dysfunctional characters in the film. He said, "Love makes normal people do nutty things. But what if they were already a little nutty to begin with?"
Something even "better"
We’ll be honest – We’re not quite sure what this is. However, Deepika, Arjun and Homi have constantly been tweeting about something "better". We can only hope that the trailer drops hints about what it is, or else we’ll have to wait until September!
