While most of our movies involve romance, they don’t stay true to reality. It’s only recently that cinema has begun to showcase realistic relationships.

Here is a list of 5 films which tackle realistic relationships:
Bunny-Naina from Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani:
Letting go is hard, but sometimes it is necessary. In Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani, Naina leaves. Bunny and decides to chase her dreams. Bunny realizes this and he doesn’t hold a grudge. As with most Bollywood films, we get a happy ending!
Ananya-Krish from 2 States:
Inter-caste marriages have always worked in Bollywood. You get to see what really happens when the parents get involved. The relationship goes from simple to complicated in a heartbeat. After all, a marriage isn’t just about two people, it’s about two families and how they come together.
Ram-Leela from Goliyon Ki RaasLeela: RamLeela:
Unlike most Bollywood stories, this film was about lust and love. Let’s be honest, isn’t sex a part of modern day relationships?
Abhay-Alia from Break Ke Baad:
When Abhay starts to have trust issues, Alia decides to breakup. Because she doesn’t want to be with someone who doesn’t trust her. It is better to break-up than to stay in a toxic relationship.
Bittu-Shruti from Band Baaja Baaraat:
Just because you sleep with them, it doesn’t mean you have to marry them! Of course, Bittu realizes his love for Shruti towards the end. All’s well that ends well. Even so, this reel life story comes quite close to reality.
