The trailer, which features a hearty dose of action and humor, focuses on Kumar and his fight against the perennial issue of corruption. When asked about the film’s positive marketing strategy, Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures said, "The promotional strategy of the film is seeped in the problem that the film is trying to highlight, which is corruption." Kumar was witty in his answers, when the question of corruption within Bollywood was raised. The Khiladi simply replied by saying that corruption present in the media too. He squashed all rumors of Gabbar, being the villain, instead saying that this Gabbar aims at cleansing the system with his fists.
The film, which has a touch of fiction mixed with the hard hitting reality of corruption in India, is set to release on May 1. Gabbar is Back takes a unique look at corruption, which is a good sign after the positive reviews received by films like A Wednesday and Shanghai.
